Thank you to Rotary Club of Grande Prairie for supporting the Beaverlodge and Area Food Bank during this time of crisis. We have used some of the funding in a variety of different ways. We were able to purchase gift cards at our local grocery stores as well as stock up on non perishable items. Once we do an assessment on what the needs are for the family we are then able to help them with both non perishables as well as a gift card for fresh/essential items. Our clients have been grateful to be able to purchase fresh produce and milk for their families. For example we had a family who needed to access the foodbank last week . This is something they have never had to do before but with their recent job loss they reached out. This was extremely hard for them to do because they felt shameful. With the ability to provide them with a gift card they were able to get essential items anonymously without the stigma of using the foodbank in the community. Just seeing the relief on their faces knowing that they can feed their family for the time being shows us the importance of providing food security from organizations like the Rotary Club. It truly makes a difference. THANK YOU.
