Welcome To

Rotary Club of Grande Prairie

What is Rotary?

We are neighbors, friends, and community leaders who are creating positive,
lasting change in our communities and around the world. Our diverse occupations,
cultures, and experiences give us a unique perspective. Our shared passion for
service helps us accomplish remarkable feats. We encourage you to attend a meeting
and learn more about us.

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie

We tackle the tough challenges in our communities with the same spirit of determination. From giving young people the tools they need to resolve conflict peacefully to organizing health clinics for underserved women and children, Rotary members are helping to improve lives in our own neighborhoods.

Don't forget to get a hold of President Serge if you want to sign up for Guess Who's Coming for Dinner this is a great fellowship event and one of President Serge's personal favorites. There will be dates in each of April and May, so if you can't make this one you still have other chances. But remember, you can take part in all three!!
Also get a hold of Robert if you want to join in on the Rotary Day festivities! This will be similar to last year with 3 events and something for the whole family. Brunch at the Legion in the morning with our District Governor Brent, Tubing at NiteHawk in the afternoon and finishing off the evening with a Pints for Polio Pub Crawl in GP. Sign up for 1 or all 3 and bring a friend, spouse or whomever... the more the merrier.

Yesterday was a busy day with presentations at Rotary! We had the pleasure of getting an update from Laura LaValley with Northwestern Alberta Foundation. Looking forward to the exciting announcements yet that they have to come!
President Serge did 2 more allocation presentations. First one from February was Dan Balisky and his charity of choice was Rising Above. Glad to see that Dan is on the mend! Second was Keith Schamber and his charity of choice was the Alberta Cancer Foundation. So nice to hear the stories and the reasons why our members are choosing the charities they do!
Last but not least Dori is still catching up on handing out Polio Society Foundation Members there certificates and pins that last years executive had allocated funds to members who had in the past year contributed to the Rotary Foundation. The Polio Society is something new that Rotary International initiated early last year.

Our Projects

Youth

Rotary believes in developing the next generation of leaders. Through our various programs for youth, young leaders learn to build leadership skills, expand education and learn the value of services and to get involved. Our hope is to build peace one young person at a time.

Local

Rotary members look for opportunities to improve our communities today and to invest in the next generation for tomorrow. With our professional experience and personal commitment, we collaborate with community leaders who want to work on projects that have a real, lasting impact on people’s lives.

International

Rotarians work together to meet the humanitarian needs of people across the globe, with a stronger focus on underprivileged children and families in developing countries. Our hope is to build peace and conflict prevention and resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, basic education and literacy, maternal and child health, and economic/community development.

Club Activity

Being active members in our community is the cornerstone of Rotary.

All are meetings are hybrid – we offer both in-person and zoom options.
