Another successful project for the Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie! It was long journey but we are excited for its opening in January!The vision for Ken Sargent House began in 2007, when former Grande Prairie Mayor and Rotarian Elmer Borstad imagined a home away from home for families travelling to Grande Prairie for medical care.That vision grew into a community-wide commitment. In 2016, all four Grande Prairie Rotary Clubs came together to form the Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie Wellness Society, helping bring the project to life.A historic $4 million commitment from the Rotary Clubs became the largest gift ever made by the clubs and helped turn the dream into reality. Today, with the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation as the operating partner, Ken Sargent House is becoming a two-storey home that will welcome even more families. Just a reminder that our meetings have now moved to the Sandman Hotel. This week we will be in the Bar One Lounge and next week we will be in the Banquet room. Rotary believes in developing the next generation of leaders. Through our various programs for youth, young leaders learn to build leadership skills, expand education and learn the value of services and to get involved. Our hope is to build peace one young person at a time.
