Some days at Rotary are extra special and last Friday was one of those as we welcomed President George and members of the Rotary Club of Kikuyu Kenya, our partners in the Eating Stones Orphanage.
I asked Joel Park for an explanation on the name;
When children are starving in Africa, they often will put a small round pebble in their mouth and suck on it, and it helps to offset the hunger pangs. So when times are very bad, they are said to be “eating stones”.
Through the work of our two Rotary Clubs we pray these children will never again be “eating stones”.
And now on with the story.
